Quite possibly the most famous basketball team in the world, the legendary Harlem Globetrotters will be making two appearances at
Staples Center on February 19, 2012. Veterans of over 22,000 games held in approximately 120 countries, the team has featured some of the finest basketball players to play the game, entertaining fans for over 85 years. From its humble beginnings in Chicago, the team played its first game on January 7, 1927; it has been thrilling audiences ever since.
Starting out as a competitive team, the Globetrotters began to help change the prevailing attitude about racial segregation in sports. In both 1948 and 1949, the all-black team would beat the world champion Minneapolis Lakers, an all-white team led by Hall of Fame player George Mikan. Their skill level helped teams to see the ability of black players, and the color barrier was crossed in the NBA in 1950. Since that time, the team has been seen as ambassadors of the game of basketball; the current squad includes several women and white players as well.
With game times at 12:00PM and 5:00PM on February 19th, the Harlem Globetrotters will once again visit the home of the Lakers to thrill the crowd with its own brand of basketball greatness. Although Wilt Chamberlain, Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neal, Marques Haynes and Goose Tatum are no longer on the Globetrotters’ roster, the team still brings the same magic that has captivated the imagination of fans who have seen them play throughout the world. Whether they are showing off amazing dribbling skills, filling the hoop with unbelievable shots or “dousing” the crowd with buckets of confetti, the Harlem Globetrotters have continued to be ambassadors. These games at the Staples Center are must-see events for anyone who appreciates true greatness in basketball.

One of the top bands to come out of the 1980’s that are showing soon are the
Red Hot Chili Peppers at Staples Center coming up in August of 2012. This top band started out in Los Angeles and has become a huge phenomenon for many of their greatest songs and albums. Their alternative rock has gained national attention with many fans who intensely enjoy their music. Surely, their performance in downtown Los Angeles this coming August of 2012 is going to be a great performance. Fans looking for tickets will be able to purchase them online and see all the action live. It is no wonder that the tickets are going to sell out fast.
Historically, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been known for pushing really great albums. Besides winning a total of Seven Grammy Awards in their lifetime, the Peppers have also made it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But, the same band from the 1980’s is not the same as it is today. In 2009, the lead guitarist, John Frusciante, left the band in order to pursue different opportunities. Luckily, Josh Klinghoffer has since filled his spot as the lead guitarist. This is why fans who have followed the band for years should come out and see them. With a new lead guitarist, their music has a different flavor yet still the same style of funk and alternative rock as before.
The crowd at Staples Center is surely going to be excited this August of 2012 as this amazing band relives and plays some of the top hits that have been popular for the past twenty and more years. Also, with the band’s brief hiatus from 2007 to 2009, it is hard to tell how much longer they will be around. Fans should buy their Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets today!
