After going on a hiatus from the last album Van Halen III in 1998, the band released its newest album, A Different Kind of Truth, on February 7, 2012.  It was met by unanimous critical acclaim, and has since reached number 2 on the US Billboard 200, and number one on the US Rock Albums and Hard Rocks Albums lists.  Get your tickets now to see Van Halen in concert live before it is too late!

One of the most iconic players not only in Sparks history but also WNBA history was Lisa Leslie, who played with the team from 1997 until 2009.  Her record clearly speaks for itself, as she was selected to the WNBA All-Star game eight times along with the First-Team All-WNBA, won three WNBA MVP awards in 2001, 2004, and 2006, and also won four Olympic gold medals over her basketball career.  She is most known for being the first WNBA player to dunk in a game on July 12, 2002.  She is currently the Sparks’ all-time leader in both scoring and rebounding.

Since the departure of Lisa Leslie, the Sparks were able to select Candace Parker with the first overall pick in 2008, and he has played an influential role with the team ever since.  Parker was a part of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers’ back-to-back NCAA championships 2007-2008 and was one of the most highly touted prospects in WNBA history.  Since joining the team Parker won the Rookie of the Year Award and WNBA MVP in 2008 and was selected to the All-Star game in 2011.

In 2011 the Sparks finished with a record of 15-19, with Candace Parker missing significant time with an injury.  With another first overall pick in the offseason, the Sparks selected Nneka Ogwumike, a star forward from Stanford.  With a healthy Parker along with Ogwumike, Alana Beard, and Kristi Toliver, the Sparks will be looking to make a run at the WNBA title in 2012.  Make sure to get your tickets now to see the Los Angeles Sparks in action in 2012!

Los Angeles Clippers

With tremendous moves made in the 2011 NBA offseason, the Los Angeles Clippers set themselves up in a position to make a run for the playoffs in the 2012, and are certainly doing so right now!   Led by all-star point guard Chris Paul, the Clippers are well over .500 and have created a spark at the Staples Center in 2012 along with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Clippers were originally founded in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, but moved to Los Angeles in 1984 and changed their name to the Los Angeles Clippers.  The team went through some struggles in the early, years but was able to pick it back up during the 1991-92 season, where head coach Larry Brown and players such as Danny Manning and Loy Vaught made it to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years, eventually losing in the first round to the Utah Jazz.  The team made another appearance in the playoffs the following year, but could not make it into the second round yet again, losing this time to the Houston Rockets.

The team would have up-and-down seasons until the 2009 NBA Draft came around, when the team was able to select Blake Griffin with the first overall pick.  Griffin was a fantastic player in college, and provided electricity to the Staples Center every time he was one the court with his high flying dunks.  With Griffin as a centerpiece the Clippers have made aggressive moves since then, hiring Vinny Del Negro as head coach, trading for Chris Paul, and signing Caron Butler and Chauncey Billups.

Even though Billups is out for the rest of this season with a torn Achilles tendon, the Los Angeles Clippers have a terrific group of players that are sure to please any basketball fan today.  Make sure to come and check out the Clippers in the Staples Center today!
